Kenneth Basten, 71, of Walford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 22, 2024, in his home surrounded by his family after a short illness.   As per Ken's wishes private family services will be held.   Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.

Ken was born April 18, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Leo and Maxine (Gillingham) Basten. He graduated from Prairie High School, class of 1971.  Ken spent many years as a Systems Analyst and was also an avid Hawkeyes fan, enjoyed going to casinos and auctions, and loved spending time with his cats. In 1979, Ken married the love of his life, Jacqueline (Roberts), with whom he shared 44 years of marriage, filled with joy and cherished memories. They raised two daughters, Kendra Basten of North Liberty and Kerri (Josh) Miller of San Bruno, California.

Ken is survived by his wife, daughters, brothers Aaron(Loretta) Basten of Solon and David Basten of Marion, and sister-in-law Wendy Basten of Ohio. He is also survived by his in-laws Bob (Elly) Roberts of Cedar Rapids and brother-in-law Kevin (Julie) Roberts of Marion, as well as many nieces and nephews, and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Leo Jr. Basten, and sister Annette Moreland.
