Keith Dewayne Jilovec, 71 of Lisbon, died Monday, July 7, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital from a sudden illness. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2008 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon, with Fr. David Wilkening presiding. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Mechanicsville. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brosh Chapel in Solon, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation will also be an hour prior to services Thursday at the church. Brosh Chapel in Solon is in charge of arrangements.
Keith was born January 1, 1937 in rural Mt.Vernon, the son of Joseph and Mildred Reimer Jilovec. He married Arlene Delores Krummel on June 21, 1955 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Lisbon. Keith's passion in life was farming. He farmed all his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mushrooming. In addition, he enjoyed watching Iowa Hawkeye football games and other sporting events, as well as spending time with his family and friends.
Keith is survived by his wife of over 53 years Arlene, a son Kenneth Jilovec of Lisbon; daughters Kaylene (John) Kroul of Mt. Vernon, Mary Katherine (Rey) Corpuz of Marietta, Georgia; five grandchildren Adam (Krista) Flockhart, Matthew Kroul, Kyle Jilovec, Mitchel Jilovec, and Reimer Corpuz; and a greatgranddaughter Madison Flockhart; sisters Kay (Robert) Lind of Lisbon, Karen (Roger) Martin of Mt. Vernon, Andrea Jilovec of Marion, and Denise (Eldon) McAffee of Des Moines; brothers William (Barbara) Jilovec, Donald (Carol) Jilovec, Robert (Mary Ann) Jilovec all of Mechanicsville and Steven (Julie) Jilovec of Mt. Vernon, and his mother in law Lillian Krummel of Mt. Vernon.
He was preceded into death by his parents; and a sister Eva Murphy.
