Karolyn R. Sedlacek, 81, of Iowa City, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024, in her home. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, lower level. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 19, 2024, at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Iowa City.

Karolyn was born on May 3, 1943, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Ben L. and Amelia S. (Terpkosh) Sojka.  She graduated from Prairie High School in Cedar Rapids and later attended the University of Iowa.  Karolyn was united in marriage to Ralph Sedlacek on June 1, 1963.  She worked at Pearsons in Iowa City as a Director for over 40 years.  Karolyn enjoyed gardening, tending to flowers, ornamental painting, art projects and most of all spending time with her family, especially the grandkids.

Karolyn is survived by her husband Ralph; children Lisa (Tim) Gerlits, Robert (Judy) Sedlacek, Tim (Amy) Sedlacek and Steve Sedlacek; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Joyce Sojka; as well as her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Bernice Sedlacek and brother Bob Sojka.
