Karen Jean Bails, 74, of Lowden, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023, at the Anamosa Care Center.  Visitation will be from 12-3 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW.  A Celebration of Life will begin at 5 p.m. at the Tipton VFW, on Saturday, January 6, 2024.

Karen was born August 28, 1949, in Wilton, the daughter of Raymond and Alberta (Stromer) Dusenberry.  She graduated from Wilton High School, the class of 1969.  Karen was united in marriage to John P. Bails on May 9, 1970, in Stanwood.  She worked at Camp Io-Dis-E-Ca in Solon, Econo Foods Bakery, daycare provider, foster parent, and babysitter. Karen enjoyed watching the Hallmark channel, cooking, baking and most of all spending time with her loving family.

Karen is survived by her children Richard (Kris Norris) Bails, Chris (Tony Gonzalez) Bails; three grandchildren Elena, Dylan and Carter; her siblings Keith (Charlene) Dusenberry, Evelyn DeVore, Sharon Dusenberry, Peggy Plowman; her sisters-in-law Donna Dusenberry, Vicki Dusenberry, Jacque Dusenberry, Janne Dusenberry, Linda Jarrett, Betty Conkel; niece Tonia Smith & Drake and many nieces & nephew & great nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, her brothers Larry, Glenn, Chuck, DeWayne, Kenny, Merle and Donnie Dusenberry, her sister Joyce Dusenberry, and a grandson Antonio Gonzalez.
