Kandice "Kandy" Kay Dennis was born September 26, 1957, to June and Ray Hunter. She was the baby sister to Linda Bates, Dennis Hunter, and John Hunter. She was also a half-sister to Sharon Svoboda and stepsister to Denny and Tom Godfrey.

Fifty years of her life were spent happily together with her husband, John Dennis. She had one daughter, Tabitha Thomson (Rick) of Cedar Rapids. Her three grandsons, Calob (Brianna), Brayden, and Silas were treasured possessions to her as well as her great granddaughters, Bailey and Cora, and great grandson, Raegen.

Along with many occupations like Younkers, Five Seasons Center,

and Pearson, Kandy was what some would call a "jack of all trades." She could do just about anything, and if she did not know how, she would either figure it out or find someone who could. People knew they could count on her. Whether someone needed food, shelter, money, or simply a helping hand; the time, day, or situation never mattered.

Kandy found joy in many things, especially traveling. She was always up for a good road trip. Siamese cats, hibiscus flowers, horses, and Elvis Presley were a few of her favorite things that showed off her active, live life, do-it-her-way spirit.

Kandy would not want us to spend our days in sadness. Instead, she would want us to honor her by living fully, helping others, and showing up whenever someone needs us. I hope you remember a time when Kandy was there for you—whether you asked for help or she simply showed up because she knew you needed it. As you think of that moment, may it remind you of her love, generosity, and steady presence.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and June, her grandson Brayden, her sister-in-law Susan Mackin, and close family friend, Cloyd (Robbie) Robinson.
