Joyce Elaine Stepanek Morehouse, 72, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.  Public visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW.  Private family Celebration of Life services will be on Thursday, March 4, 2021, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, with burial to follow in Czech National Cemetery.  The family has asked everyone attending to please wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Joyce was born May 23, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Eldon and Dorothee (Hillmer) Stepanek.  She completed her education at Prairie High School in 1967.  In the early 1970's, she moved into the Linnhaven group homes, while working for Options of Linn County.  Joyce was united in marriage to Rick Morehouse in 2001.  She has lived at Heritage Nursing Home for the past few years.  She has been a Fairfax Legion Auxiliary member since 1952.  Joyce enjoyed playing the organ, painting, knitting, puzzles, as well as time with all animals.

Joyce is survived by her brothers Douglas Stepanek of Fairfax and Pat (Shari) Stepanek of Atkins; her sister Rose Lockhart of Cedar Rapids; nieces and nephews April (Dave) Lange, Angie (Nick) Von Ahsen, Abbie (Seth) Patterson, Kate (Josh) Hoeck, Melissa Stepanek, Colby Stepanek and Jarrad Stepanek; and sixteen great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ricky, and a brother John Lockhart.

Memorials may be directed to the Fairfax American Legion Auxiliary in her name.
