Josephine S. Rompot, 97 of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, September 2, 2013 at her daughter's home in Swisher. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Burial will follow in Czech National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids. Josephine was born March 17, 1916 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Albert and Anna (Frisch) Suchomel. She married Joseph A. Rompot on October 25, 19 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua. She worked for Quaker Oats for over thirty five years until her retirement. In her early years she loved cooking, fishing, and going to the cabin at ZCBJ Park. Josephine enjoyed bingo, going to the casino, and spending time with her family. Josephine is survived by her daughters Patsy Ann (Al) Boeding of Ely and Peg (Roman) Zach of Swisher; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and her great-greatgrandchildren; a sister Barbara Jandl of Cedar Rapids; and a son-in-law Vern Brownell; and a brother-in-law Don (Sandy) Rompot of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph, a daughter Rosie Brownell, her sisters and her brother, and sons-in-law Donald Carlson and Kenny Merta Sr. Memorials may be directed to either the Ely and or the Swisher Fire Departments.
