Joseph F. Vomacka, 75, died Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at the Escondido Care Center after a long illness. He was born December 25, 1930 in Cedar Rapids to Frank A. and Sylvia (Hurka) Vomacka.
Joseph attended Wilson High School, and then served four years in the U.S. Navy. He lived in Santa Cruz and San Jose, California, where he raised exotic fish, cockatiels, and flowers. He loved the California sunshine. His last years were spent in a care center in Escondido, California.
Joseph was survived by his sister and her husband, Marge and Cal Wagner, and a very special friend, Tim Thompson of Escondido, California. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, George.
Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements. There will be a private funeral service at Czech National Cemetery.
