Joseph Blaylock Jr., 85 of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at ManorCare. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2009 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, temporarily located at 3100 F Avenue NW. Burial will follow in Czech National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, temporarily located at 3100 F Avenue NW.
Joseph was born June 1, 1924 in Walford, the son of Joseph and Barbara Svoboda Blaylock. Joseph proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He married Beverly A. Crumpacker on September 5, 1959 in Cedar Rapids. Joseph enjoyed spending the afternoons at the VFW Post 788 tipping back a cold one and joking with friends. He was an avid golfer and Cubs fan and enjoyed playing Bingo with the ladies.
Joseph is survived by his daughter, Kim Anderson; son, Bret (Michele) Blaylock all of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Brandon Brokel and Lacy Anderson; and step daughter, Shari Saari.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; brother, Lumir; and sisters, Myme Holicek, Adaline Edwards, and Ermma McNeil.
