Street S.W., Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, February 4, 2007, of natural causes.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary (Steven) Aamold of San Jose, Ca., a son, John A. (Mickey Streeter) Scriven of Vinton, three grandsons, Matthew (Jen) Primmer, San Jose, Ca., Brent (Yumi) Primmer, New York City, Shaun Scriven, of Cedar Rapids and many nieces and nephews.
Bus was preceded in death by his wife, Esther, brothers Hugh William and Robert Leslie and sisters Hazel May Shramek and Mary Louise Person.
Bus was born March 16, 1916 in Cedar Rapids, the son of John Blaine and Harriet Scriven. He graduated from Grant Senior High School in 1934. He married Esther Klepach on October 30, 1943.
Bus served in the U.S. Navy from 1940 to 1946. He was a graduate of the F.B.I. 61
st
Session National Academy and retired as Lieutenant of Detectives, Cedar Rapids Police Department after serving the Department for 23 years. He also worked as a security officer at Armstrong's Department Store and Merchants National Bank. He was a member of the Cedar Rapids Police Department Protection Association, the Iowa State Police Officers Association and the Iowa Association of Chiefs of Police and Police Officers, and V.F.W. Local Post #788.
A devoted husband, father and friend, Bus enjoyed sports, hunting, cooking, story telling and caring for others. A man of deep conviction, personal integrity and compassion he will be greatly missed by all those whose life he touched.

, 11:30 a.m. A 12 p.m. reception celebrating John's (Bus) life will be held at Patrick J. Shanahan VFW Post 788, 3240 Southgate Place S.W., Cedar Rapids. Friends and family are invited. A light luncheon will be served.
