John Michael Sarazin, 61 of Center Point, died Sunday, August 24, 2014 at his home. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Thursday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 29, 2014 at St. Matthew's Catholic Church. A private family inurnment will be at a later date in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque. John was born February 11, 1953 in Dubuque, the son of Roy and Mary (Blume) Sarazin. He graduated from Dubuque Hempstead High School and later from Marshalltown Community College. After graduation, he was employed at Link-Belt Speeder in Cedar Rapids for many years. John was united in marriage to Lesta Leitner on May 3, 1975 at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. John then started his own home improvement business, in 1985. For the last 29 years, he held a position at Rockwell Collins as a designer until retiring this year. The last several years, he was also a vendor at Noelridge Farmer's Market. He enjoyed gardening, designing and creating projects, hunting, fishing, off-roading, and spending time with his family, especially the grandkids. John is survived by his wife Lesta; his sons Scott (Bethany) Sarazin of Alburnett and Kevin (Angela) Sarazin of Roland; three grandkids Jacob, Jenna and Makenzey; his siblings Carol (John) Frommelt, Ann (David) Hanten, Carl (Bertha) Sarazin, Steve (Jennifer) Sarazin all of Dubuque, Joan (Paul) Marietta of Bettendorf, and Lois (Pete) Corona of Marysville, California; as well as many nieces and nephews, and a special family friend Verne Long. He was preceded in death by his parents, his uncle Andy and his aunt Margaret. A memorial fund has been established in his name as future scholarships for his grandchildren.
