John Louis Rozinek, 58 of Ely, died Thursday, June 5, 2008 at his home after a lengthy illness.  Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids with Rev. Glenn Hunt presiding.  Full military rites will be conducted by the Ely American Legion St. Quentin Post 555 following services at the chapel.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.  Private family inurnment will be at a later date.

John was born on October 2, 1949 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Louis and Josephine (Hartl) Rozinek.  John served in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War.  He married Bernita Hynek Viall on August 7, 1982 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.  John worked for over 40 years at Quaker Oats as well as farmed.

John is survived by his wife Bernita; his children Stacy (Rick) Steffens of Fairfax, Tammy (Dave) Perrin of Cedar Rapids and Todd (Kari) Viall of Amana; grandchildren Taylor and Connor Steffens, Blake and Brooklyn Viall, and Emily and Justin Perrin; his mother Josephine Rozinek of Ely; sisters Patricia (Bunyan) Howell and Rose (Bob) Carlo and a brother Edward Rozinek all of Ely.

He was preceded in death by his father Louis Rozinek.
