John J. Haugland, 93, of Solon, died Friday, March11, 2022 in his home following a long illness. Graveside Services were held at Oakland Cemetery in Solon. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Solon is serving the family.

John was born December 25, 1928 on the farm in Chariton to John and Florence (Wohlwend) Hoover. At the age of 11 he was adopted by Eric and Edna Haugland. He married Carol Petrie on June 29, 1956. After her passing, John married Barbara Hinz on May 23, 1992.  John worked construction most of his life. John had many interests and enjoyed gardening, his apple trees and woodworking. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Barbara; children Scott Haugland, Teresa (Jeff) Sedlacek, Brett (Lisa) Haugland and step son James (Amy) Hinz; 8 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; siblings Ronnie (Barb), Doyle (Janet), Kenneth and Vivian (Dan); and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Carol in 1985, infant son Michael, daughter Karen Kottman, siblings Loretta, Betty, Keith, Sandra, Shirley and Vern.
