Joanne Britland, 67, from Swansea, Massachusetts, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025, in her home. Per her wishes there will be no services at this time, her family will celebrate her life in a private gathering. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids are serving the family.

Joanne was born on July 15, 1958, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, the daughter of Earl Francis and Lois Elizabeth Britland.

Joanne is survived by her daughters Amie Buckley and Tina Travis; Son Russell Sowersby; Grandchildren Carol, Aaron, Shamyia, Marcus, Kara, Ava, Heaven, Angeline, Isabelle, Ralph, and Earl; sisters Cathy, Beth, and Donna. Beloved niece Erica and nephew Craig and a large family of nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister Lisa and her brother Earl.

Joanne loved to spend time with her family, a delicious meal, the ocean, music and so much more. Her favorite thing was to be able to send her grandchildren off to school each day with words of love, starting their days on a positive note. Joanne will be deeply missed by her family.
