Jerry
Jordan
Jun 9, 1959 — Jun 30, 2026
Jerry Lee Jordan, 67, passed away peacefully at his home on June 30, 2026, after a battle with cancer. The son of the late Richard and Marilyn Jordan. He was born in Davenport, lowa.
Jerry and his spouse Chris made their home on Chris's grandparents farm in Fairfax, lowa, in 2001.
Survivors and cherished family include:
Hannah (Mike) Lomax of Des Moines, Dakota (Donna) Jordan of Cedar Rapids and grandchildren. Sisters Julie (Loren) Becker of Shellsburg, Jeannie (Tom) Laube of Nashua.
Barb, Robin, Sue, Trent, many nieces and nephews, cousins, The Minors, and many friends who were like family.
Proceeded in death by Jill, Kailee, Brittany.
Jerry attended Jefferson high school in Cedar Rapids, lowa. He was an outstanding athlete in many sports, but he excelled in football. He was thrilled and honored when Jefferson inducted him into the J-Hawk football Hall of Fame. He was a valued starter as a junior and never had a bad game in two years.
He started his own business- Jordan's Floor Coverings. His strong work ethic and excellence in detail contributed to his success as a carpet installer for over 30 years. His ability to be professional, friendly, and confident in his work, gained him many repeat customers and referrals. He was thankful to have learned the skill of carpet installation from his father, Richard.
He loved the Lord, his family, friends, country life, and riding horses. Jerry was an ordained pastor. He dedicated 15 years of his life to lead cowboy church services at horse events throughout the Midwest. No matter who you were or what you were going through, you were always welcomed to his church service. He loved to have people give their testimony, and he was always ready to pray for anyone.
Jerry's willingness to encourage and love others, carried over to Running The Race Horse Ranch (RTR), a non-profit, horse therapy organization located on our farm. Jerry's strong desire to help others through their trauma, made him a vital part of RTR. He knew how to make the kids laugh and feel comfortable. He will be greatly missed.
Wherever we went, somebody knew him and considered him a friend. If he didn't know you, he would make small talk with you anyway.
Jerry wanted to be cremated. A celebration of life will be held as an open house on October 3 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at John's place, 8404 Linn-Johnson Rd., Fairfax, IA. All are welcome to join us in honoring Jerry.
