Jerry Cyrus Carlo, 84 of Bloomfield, Iowa formerly of Ottumwa, passed away at Bloomfield Care Center November 16, 2013 with his family by his side. Jerry C. Carlo was born Dec. 13, 1928 in Hiteman, Iowa to Sanford and Mary (Smead) Carlo. Survived by his son, Tim C Carlo, of Keosauqua, Ia and two daughters, Ellen A. (Mark) McKeel of Windsor, WI and Kristi K. Applegate of Fairfield, Iowa. Jerry's wife, Margaret "Monny"(Wentworth) Carlo preceded him in death on March 31, 2011. Jerry had five brothers and six sisters, all preceded Jerry in death except. John (Leila) Carlo of Ottumwa and Bob (Rose) Carlo of Ely, Iowa and niece, Betty Seddon of Eddyville, Iowa. Jerry also leaves behind his eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren, and his best friend Eva Jones. Jerry retired from John Deere at age 47. He also had been employed by Ottumwa Transit after retirement driving a school bus for Cardinal Community Schools in Eldon, Ia. Jerry was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan and loved baseball, though his greatest passion was spending time with his family along with fishing on the river. The body has been cremated and services will be planned for Jerry and Margaret at a later date.
