Janet Lee Thompson - Deeder, 76, died Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 15th at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW, with Reverend Tom Carver presiding. Burial will follow in Anderson Cemetery in Swisher. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids. Janet was born November 30, 1935 in Keokuk, the daughter of Kenneth and Dona (Dockum) Hagmeier. She married Gary Thompson on August 29, 1954 in Ft. Madison. They were married for 40 years. After Gary's passing she married Bud Deeder on May 1, 1996. She worked as OR Tech at Mercy Hospital for many years, and then was office manager for OB/GYN & Associates in Iowa City. After retirement, Janet and Gary moved to Arizona in 1992. She enjoyed cooking for everyone and loving her family. Janet is survived by her children Dianna (Donovan) Young of Swisher and Joel (Diane) Thompson of Solon; her grandchildren Tanya (Doug) Young, Jamie (Phil) Young, Travis (Angie) Young, Todd (Mandy) Young, Joshua Thompson (Ashton Humphrey), and Chris Thompson; her great-grandchildren Mackenzee, Mackaylee, Lillee, Brodyn; sister Judy Mahoney and a brother Mark (Phyllis) Richers both of Ft. Madison; as well as many nieces and nephews. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gary who died August 28, 1994, and husband Bud who died February 20, 2009, a sister Sandra Nelson, and a brother Kenny Hagmeier.
