Jane M. (Mummelthie) Beck, 60, of Hills, IA passed away on Tuesday June 24th 2014 surrounded by her family due to complications from diabetes. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 1st at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Hills. Burial will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Visitation will be held at St. Joseph's Church from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, June 30th. Funeral services will be provided by Brosh Chapel, Solon. Jane was born in Waverly, IA on May 1st, 1954 to Robert and Dorothy (Griffin) Mummelthie. She attended Waterloo East High School and married Daniel J. Beck on October 6th 1978 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waterloo, IA. Jane and Dan moved to Hills in 1987 and she enjoyed working for Hills Bank & Trust Company for many years. Before the birth of her third child, she began operating a daycare out of her home which she did for over 10 years. Jane's hobbies included planting her flowers in the spring, planning and hosting her annual 4th of July party, and spending time with her close friends and family, especially her grandsons. She is survived by her husband Dan and three children, Katie (Allen) Schneider of Riverside, IA, Jennifer (Caleb) Grundmeier of Roland, IA, and Jordan Beck of Hills, IA, a sister, Leanne Hill of Waterloo, IA, two brothers, Tom (Cheryl) Mummelthie of Waterloo, IA and John (Cathy) Mummelthie of Waterloo, IA. She is also survived by four grandsons; Jackson, Jacob & Cooper Schneider of Riverside, IA and Liam Grundmeier of Roland, IA. She is preceded in death by her father Robert L. Mummelthie and her mother Dorothy B. (Griffin) Schmidt. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
