James Andrew Meyers, 81, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown where he resided since 2007.  Funeral Mass for Jim will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ludmila Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids with Father Ken Glaser presiding.  Burial will be held at St. John's Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.  Brosh Chapel & The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids are in charge of arrangements.

James is survived by his three sons: Mike (Trish) of  Fairfax, Tom (Lisa) of Walford, and Steve (Melissa) Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Megan, David, Sarah, Jacob and Sam; sister Sally (Norman) Wiley of Homestead; brother, Andy (Mary Rita) of Fairfax; the mother of his children, Dollie Meyers of Cedar Rapids, and his nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary, his infant daughter, Ann, and his sister, Judith Meyers, RSM.

Jim was born on November 23, 1936 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Amos and Helen (Kula) Meyers.  He married Dollie Dueker in Cedar Rapids on November 18, 1961; they later divorced.  He married Mary Thomas on December 15, 1999 in Negril, Jamaica.  She died November 11, 2000.  Jim was a 1954 graduate of Wilson High School and served in the Navy from September 1954 to October 1957.  He was an independent carpet layer most of his life and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards.

In lieu of flowers, the family has designated St. Ludmila Catholic Church for memorial contributions.
