He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1970 and he proudly served his county in the United States Navy from 1972-1978 in the Pacific Fleet on the fast attack submarine, USS Aspro. He had a 35 year career with ADM in management capacity before retiring in 2012. Jim spent many hours volunteering at the Cedar Rapids Police Department. He enjoyed his trips to the casinos, where he loved the slots. He is survived by his siblings; Marjean McMahon (Doug Wiebbecke) and Michael (Rebecca) Collins, nephews; Marcus and Mitchell, a niece Jennifer and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family would like to thank the staff and doctors at Mercy Medical Center for all their care they gave Jim.
