James "Jim" Joseph Bowersox, 72, of Swisher, died Saturday, August 9, 2014. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2014 at Shueyville United Methodist Church with Rev. Craig Peters presiding. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. James was born September 24, 1941 in Cedar Rapids, the son of James W. and Wilma (Louvar) Bowersox. He was a graduate of the original class at Prairie High School in 1959. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1962 with a degree in Agriculture. Jim served in the United States Army for two years at Ft. Hood in Killeen, Texas. He returned to Swisher, where he was an active member of his community, church, and lifetime farmer. Jim is survived by his children Lori Bowersox of Durham, North Carolina, Chris (Colene) Bowersox and their daughters Britt and Brooke, Doug Bowersox both of Swisher, Susan (Gary Tomas) Bowersox and their children Carter and Adelyn of Fairfax; his siblings Carol (Ken) Cuhel of Swisher, David (Kathy) Bowersox of Shueyville, and Sheryl (Rod) Cook of Newark, Ohio as well as several nieces and nephews.
