Jack Hilsenbeck, 68 of Solon, died from a courageous battle with lung cancer, Friday, June 3, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery where full military rites will be conducted. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Brosh Chapel in Solon where there will be a 5 p.m. vigil. Jack was born March 13, 1943 in Greeley, the son of Robert and Goldie Hilsenbeck. He married Clara Funke on October 11, 1969 in Ryan. He worked at KW Products for over 35 years. Jack was in the US Army and served during the Vietnam War. Life long Green Bay Packer fan and a NASCAR fan, especially Dale Earnhardt. He looked forward to his Friday night trips to Sutliff Bar. He enjoyed his retirement gardening and working in his yard and flower beds. He took pride in his accomplishments. Jack is survived by his wife Clara, his children; Tammi of Chicago, Illinois, Robert of North Liberty and Sean of Solon, sisters; Sheryl Schlagel (Jim) of Westville, Indiana and Bev Hartbeck of Edgewood and his mother Goldie Hilsenbeck of Greeley. He was preceded in death by his father Robert, father-in-law Ralph Funke, brother-in-law Gary Hartbeck, niece Janine Vcelka Kennedy and many aunts and uncles. Memorials may be directed to the family.
