Irman " Skip" Sherard Jr., 67, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, December 22, at St. Luke's Hospital after a short illness. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 26 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids with Rev. Glenn Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Rogers Grove Cemetery near Ely. Visitation will be an hour prior to services Monday at the Chapel.
Survivors include his mother, Virginia Sherard, and a sister, Linda Schwartz of Tennessee; four children, David (Cathy) Sherard, Steve "Buzz" Sherard, Peggy (Terry) Cunningham, and Christy (Jeff) White; nine grandchildren, Erik, Brooke, and Josh Sherard, Alisha Beachler, Laura and Keri Cunningham, Derek and Ciara White, all of Cedar Rapids, and Amanda Sherard, of Las Vegas Nevada; two step-grandchildren Alisha and Audrey Cunningham; and three great step-grandchildren, Noah, Chase, and Jada Cunningham, from Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his father Irman Sherard, Sr., and a grandchild Melissa Fillenworth.
Skip was born on April 4, 1938, in Louisville, KY, the son of Irman and Virginia Christine Downs Sherard Sr. He was married on September 5, 1959, to Betty Lou Huff, and they remained best of friends for over 50 years. Skip was retired and enjoyed life. A memorial fund has been established.
