Irma Mouchka Kelly, 78 of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, March 29, 2009 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy following a lengthy illness.  Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 2 at St. Ludmila's Catholic Church with Fr. Tom McDermott presiding.   Burial to follow in St. Johns Catholic Cemetery.   Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Ludmilas Catholic Church where there will be a 5 p.m. vigil.  Visitation will be also be an hour prior services Thursday at the church.   Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.
Irma was born June 23, 1930 on a farm west of Swisher the daughter of Joseph and Bessie Stanek Mouchka.  She attended Wilson High School in Cedar Rapids.  She graduated from Iowa State Teachers College in teaching and then later received her B.A. at Mt. Mercy College.  She married Edward B. Kelly on August 4, 1961 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Iowa City.  She was a teacher with Monroe School, Coralville, Des Moines, Omaha and Cedar Rapids Prairie Community Schools.  Irma was very active member of the National Czech and Slovak Museum and St. Ludmilas Catholic Church.  She was the head and lead organizer for so many activities and functions at her church including the Kolache Festival.  She loved to play bridge, travel, go to the symphony, and spend time attending her grandkids events and activities.
Irma is survived by a daughter Shannon (Eric) Peiper of Marion; a son Dr. Patrick Kelly of Jacksonville, Florida; three grandchildren Matthew, Sara and Jacob Peiper; Edna Schindhelm of Iowa City.
Irma is preceded in death by her husband Edward on March 21, 1987 and a brother Milton Mouchka.
Memorials may be directed in her name to St. Ludmila's Catholic Church.
