Irene G. Houser, 93, formerly of the Meadows Apartments in Cedar Rapids, fell asleep in death April 7, 2012 at Crestview Acres Nursing Home in Marion, after a short illness. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery next to her husband Paul who preceded her in death. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family. A Memorial Service will be held April 28, 2012 , 7 P.M. at the Pioneer Avenue Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 7121 Mt. Vernon Road, Cedar Rapids with Lowell Klinefelter presiding. Survivors include her son Terry Houser, Sr (Nancy) of Cedar Rapids, 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. A son Milton, her parents and 11 siblings also preceded her. Irene was born December 13, 1918 to John and Annie Hammrich at Ipswich, South Dakota. She married Paul M. Houser on April 1, 1940 in Menahga, Minnesota. Her focus in life was the door-to-door ministry performed by Jehovah's Witnesses. She will be remembered by many old time residents of southeast Cedar Rapids as the "White-haired" Bible Lady who brought the message of God's Kingdom to their homes. The family would like to extend a special thanks to nurses and staff at Crestview Acres and Mercy hospice for their kind and loving care.
