Irene L. Earsa, 88 of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at St. Ludmila's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Hala Cemetery, rural Amana. Visitation will be from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Irene was born April 2, 1926 in Shueyville, the daughter of Edward and Ada (See) Turecek. She married William C. Earsa on May 30, 1943 at Wionna, Mississippi. Irene and William farmed for many years in the Swisher - Fairfax area. She enjoyed going to dances, traveling, gardening, cooking family meals, and keeping the farm and yard perfect. Her faith was very important to her and she was a devoted member of St. Ludmilas Catholic Church. Irene is survived by her sons, Daniel (Pennie) Earsa of Pocahontas, Arkansas, and Mark Earsa of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren Selina Earsa, Tracy (Jason) Hosier, Tammy (Greg) Lundry and Bart Earsa; five great-grandchildren Jerod, Cassie, Olivia, Alaina and Max; and her sister, Alma Lana of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Earsa; a son William Edward Earsa; a grandson Bo Mark Earsa; and two sisters, Mary Witousek and Rose Skalsky. A memorial fund has been established.
