Irene Della Bontty, 97, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at The Methwick Community-Woodlands following a short illness. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Burial will be held at Czech National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2016 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.

Irene was born December 29, 1918 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Frank and Della Plucar. She attended High School in Reed City, Michigan and then Cedar Rapids Business College. She married Edmund Z. Bontty on August 2, 1939 in Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed working and living on the farm and was proud that it was a Century Farm. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were the highlight of her life. Irene was a member of the Eastern Star Fidelatis Lodge #364 in Fairfax and was very active in the Farm Bureau.

Irene is survived by her children Kenneth (Shelia) Bontty of Norway and Justina (Tom) Dunlap of Portland, OR; grandchildren Brad (Laura) Bontty of St. Louis, MO and Craig (Lynnelle) Bontty of Fairfax; great grandchildren Gavin, Jackson, Austin, Oscar, and Adelyn Bontty, and Alek Bracy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edmund, and sister Esther Cerveny.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Stuart Wing at Methwick and Mercy Hospice for their kind and compassionate care for Irene over the past few years.
