Herman G. Stout, 80 of Solon, died Sunday May 25th, 2014 at Mercy Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Solon, with burial to follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Herman was born on February 2, 1934 in West Branch, IA the son of Gerald and Blanche (Cihla) Stout. He served in the United States Army. He married Ellen Cilek on May 1, 1956 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Solon. Herman is survived by his wife Ellen of 58 years, a son; Tom (Janice) of Solon, daughters; Lisa (Jeff) Kaefring of Solon, Jeanette (Jeff) Stewart of Davenport, grandchildren; Evan and Jordan Stout, Whitney, Adam (Stephanie) and Hillary Kaefring, Jacob and Rachel Stewart, siblings: Joyce (John) Zaruba, Jeannie (Keith) Jennings, Lyle (Jan) Stout, Robert (Joann) Stout, Wayne Stout, and Gary Stout. Herman was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law Beverly Stout (Wayne). Memorial contributions will be used for Solon High School students to further their education.
