Helen Marie Stourac Sixta, 91, a resident at Northbrook Manor Care Center , died Thursday, June 10, 2010 of natural causes. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids , located at 2121 Bowling Street SW , with a service to follow at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Czech National Cemetery .

Helen was born June 12, 1918 of Czech heritage in Cedar Rapids . She attended school in Cedar Rapids and worked at First Trust and Savings bank where she met Ernest (Ernie) Frank Sixta whom she married in 1945. They had one son and settled in Trenton , New Jersey in 1952 after returning from England on a Fulbright Scholarship for Ernie for two years. Helen worked and raised her family in Ewing , New Jersey . In 1993, she returned to Cedar Rapids after suffering a stroke.

Surviving are her son, James of Round Rock, Texas ; grandson James II (Deb) of Altoona ; granddaughter Sara Hunter (Adam) of Cedar Rapids ; and great-grandchildren Samantha Sixta and Ian Hunter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, her parents Mary and Frank Stourac and her daughter-in-law D. Christine Sixta.

Memorials may be directed in her name to the charity of the donor's choice.
