Helen Pauline Nalley, 98 of Solon, died Monday, June 9, 2008 at the Solon Nursing Care Center from a brief illness. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2008 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with burial following in St. Mary's Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Brosh Chapel in Solon, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service.

Helen was born June 29, 1909 in Solon, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Brock Krob.  She married Myron E. Nalley on August 1, 1928 at St. Mary's Catholic Church.   She attended the University of Iowa where she studied art.  Helen worked for many years as a telephone operator for the Solon Telephone Company, and also at the University of Iowa food service at Burge Dorms.

Helen is survived by her son Patrick (Delores) Nalley of Solon; two grandchildren Joanne (Joe) Nolte and Julie Nalley (Ron Jewell) all of Cedar Rapids; one greatgrandchild Eddie Nolte of Cedar Rapids; her sister Emma Krob Castle of New York City; a niece and two nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Myron; and a sister Henrietta Schleuter, and two nieces.

Memorials may be directed to St. Marys Catholic Church and or Iowa City Hospice.
