Helen Joan Harlan, 94 of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 20th, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 until 6 p.m. Monday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary. Helen was born April 16, 1918 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Frank and Julia (Klouda) Biskup. Helen graduated from St. Wenceslaus Catholic School. She married Lewis C. Harlan on April 30, 1942 in Cedar Rapids. She worked for Witwer Wholesale and United States Bank for several years. Helen was a lifetime member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, where she was involved with St. Monica's Circle. She enjoyed taking holiday treats to the homebound, playing cards, and visiting casinos. Helen is survived by her daughter Joann Harlan of Cedar Rapids and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lewis, her brothers Leonard Biskup and Archbishop George J. Biskup. Memorials may be directed to the family.
