Heath Michael Mihal, 41 of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, August 29, 2015. Celebration of life services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Burial will be in Blain Cemetery near Swisher. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2015 at Brosh Chapel. Heath was born April 2, 1974 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Gene and Susan (Rompot) Mihal. He attended Monroe, Taft and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1995. He joined Options of Linn County in 1996. They gave him such good care and they all loved Heath. Heath was the "Sunshine" of everyone's life that met him. He loved being a part of the game, supporting his brothers/dad's teams, riding in the Model A's was a favorite of his, rooting for the Cubs, like his grandmas, giving High Fives was his favorite way to greet someone, animals, and most of all spending time with his loving family. Heath is survived by his father Gene (Sue Anne) Mihal and mother Sue Mihal (Clyde Melvin) both of Cedar Rapids; his two brothers Kelly Mihal of Cedar Rapids and Scott (Holly) Mihal and their children Tanner and Cael of Webster; his step-brother Matt (Sarah) Melvin and their children Tristan, John and Sidonia of Marion; his step-sister Sally (Steve) Strah of Coralville; his grandmother Leona Mihal of Cedar Rapids; step-grandparents Fred and Doris Templer of Cedar Rapids; uncles Reverend Mr. Vernon Rompot Jr. KHS and Randy (Marge) Rompot Sr. both of Cedar Rapids, Doug (Pam) Mollenhauer of Ankeny, John (Sherry) Kahler-Melvin and Kirk (Deb) Schatzle both of Cedar Rapids, Gene Templer of Shueyville and Richard (Sue) Mihal of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; aunts Betty Sheets of Cedar Rapids and Barb Rompot of Marion; his good friend and helper Gail and her dogs Sammy, Flea and Dozer; as well as his many cousins. Heath was preceded in death by his grandparents Vernon and Sadie Rompot, two uncles Bobby Rompot, Kenneth Mihal, aunt Lori Ann Rompot, and his cousins Todd Sheets, Barb Mihal, Iszack Rompot. Memorials may be directed to either Cedar Valley Humane Society and or to Hospice of Mercy in his name. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Hospice of Mercy for their loving care for Heath and his family.
