Harold E. Spores Sr., 80, of Cedar Rapids died Saturday morning, February 4, 2006 at home following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at Brosh Chapel, Cedar Rapids with Reverend Rob Hollowell, officiating.  Interment will follow at Czech National Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Monday at Brosh Chapel, Cedar Rapids.

Harold was born on October 12, 1925 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Edward and Libbie (Medulan) Spores.  He served in the US Navy during WWII.  Harold married Maxine White on May 26, 1945 in Cedar Rapids.  He worked for Iowa Steel and Metal Fabricators and also owned and operated his own business S&S Pickup Service.  Harold was a member of Christian Missionary Alliance Church for many years.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years Maxine Spores of Cedar Rapids; children Arlene (Thomas) Barrow of Ely, Myra (Eugene) Barrette of Lowden, Harold (Karol) Spores Jr. of Cedar Rapids, Jerry (Debbie) Spores of Cedar Rapids, Stanley Spores of Mount Vernon, John (Sheryl) Spores of Wyoming, and Bill Spores of Des Moines; twenty-two grandchildren; forty-one great-grandchildren; and a sister Anna Bruce of Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother John, a sister Florence, and a great-grandson.

A memorial fund has been established for Mercy Hospice and Camp Courageous.
