H. Paul Walshire, 94, died Wednesday, April 18, 2007 after a short illness at Cottage Grove Place in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, with burial following in Roger's Grove Cemetery, rural Ely.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the chapel.

Paul was born on August 1, 1912, the son of Edward and Cecilia (O'Mally) Walshire of Mechanicsville, Iowa.  He was united in marriage to Helen Sladek on February 11, 1933.  Paul and Helen farmed for over 50 years near Ely.  Paul retired from the guard force at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids in 1977.

Paul is survived by his children: Peg Walshire of Phoenix, AZ, Jackie Meskimen of Cedar Rapids, and Larry Walshire of DesMoines; eight grandchildren: Kevin (Teresa) Meskimen, Mark (Diana) Meskimen, Brad (Dixie) Meskimen, Mike (Sherry) Imholz, Steve (Audrea) Walshire, Tom (Julia) Walshire, Stacy (Mike) Frelund and Ben (Rachael) Walshire; fourteen greatgrandchildren; brother-in-law Jack Ward of Tipton; sister-in-law Mildred Sladek of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years; his brothers John, Edward, and Cecil; and a sister Mary Ward.
