Gordon P. Smith, 72 of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, April 13, 2008 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.
Gordon was born May 11, 1935 in Delaware County, the son of Cecil and Blanche (Beitz) Smith. He graduated from Lamont High School in 1953. Gordon married Betty Vozenilek on June 11, 1960 in Rock Island, IL. He was employed by Farmstead Foods for 27 years, retiring in 1990. He was an avid bingo player and he enjoyed watching the Cubs.
Gordon is survived by his wife Betty; his children: Brian Smith, David Smith, and Scott (Dani) Smith all of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren: Ryan, Cori, Amy, Megan, and Justin; and three great grandchildren: Nattasha, Annabelle, and Navaida.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
