Glenn was born March 13, 1927 on the family farm in rural Ely, the first child of Henry "William" and Stella (Novak) Klinsky. After graduating from Mt. Vernon High School in 1945, he entered the U.S. Army where he proudly served his country during WWII. Upon his return from the Army, he began farming the family farm, a Heritage Farm. He married Darlene Hickey on August 18, 1953 at First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids.

Besides farming, Glenn's hobbies included woodworking, which involved felling the tree, sawing the logs and then building furniture and gifts. He cherished the time he spent with his family, friends and neighbors. He also liked to travel, collect John Deere memorabilia and drive his "special" tractor in the Eastern Iowa Tractorcade. He was a long-time member of the St. John Lutheran Church, the Ely Lodge #581 of the International Order of Odd Fellows, Town and Country Club and the Two Cylinder Club. Glenn served on the ASC Committee as the Putnam Township representative and was the Putnam Township Trustee for six years. He was a 4-H leader for the Putnam Pals and recently, the Ely American Legion honored him as a 70-year consecutive member. A highlight of his travels was in 2013 when he traveled to see the World War ll Memorial in Washington D.C. with the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight.

Glenn is survived by his daughters Shirley (Douglas) Mott of Batavia, Illinois and Linda Jensen of Cedar Rapids; daughter-in-law Diane (Mike) Polton of Ely; five grandchildren Dennis (Amy) Klinsky, Lisa (Nathan) Knutson, Eric Mott, Andrew Mott, and Tyson (Christa) Jensen; five great-granddaughters Miriam, Anna, Lydia, Edith Knutson and Kaylee Klinsky; one great-grandson Benedict Knutson; his brother Harold (Dorothy) Klinsky of Cedar Rapids; his sister Ellen Jones of Ely; his brother-in-law Don Kadlec; and sister-in-law Shirley (Don) Diehl of Coralville; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Darlene on September 30, 2011, his son Kenneth Klinsky; a grandson Jason Jensen, his brother Carl Klinsky, his sister Florence Kadlec; and a brother-in-law Edmond "Sunk" Jones.
