Gladys E. Tesar, 89 of Mount Vernon, died Monday, January 30, 2012 at Hallmark Care Center. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 3 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Springville. Burial will be in Czech National Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil. Gladys was born July 20, 1922 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Louis and Elsie (Pavlis) Doskocil. She married Louis Tesar on September 29, 1943. Gladys enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking, the cows and her dogs, going to auctions and dances and spending time with her friends and family. Gladys and Louis were one of the founding members of the St. Isidore Catholic Church. Gladys is survived by her children, Marie Theisen of Urbandale, James (Delores) Tesar of Springville, and Donald (Gloria) Tesar of Mount Vernon; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Elmer Doskocil in Cedar Rapids; and a sister Arlene Posposil of Lisbon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis on June 19, 2004 and her brother, Lumir Doskocil, a son Richard Tesar, and a grandson Scott Theisen. Memorials may be directed to the family.
