Gladys Langer, 78 of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, November 5 at home. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids. Burial will follow in Sulek Cemetery, near Shueyville. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids and for an hour prior to services Tuesday at the Chapel.
Gladys was born October 13, 1927 near Shueyville, the daughter of Steve and Della Vrchticky Dlouhy. She married Emil C. Langer October 27, 1947 near Ely. She worked for many years at Osco Drug as a cashier. She loved working with people, crocheting, reading and fishing. She was especially fond of her outdoor flowers. She and Emil loved spending time with their dog, Molly.
Gladys is survived by two daughters, Betty Kucera and friend Kevin Danley, and Connie (Mark) Newlon both of Cedar Rapids; a grandson William; two sisters Betty (Dick) Ham and Elsie Mishleau; a sister in law Rosie Fisher; a former daughter in law Cathy Barry; two brothers Leo and Bob Dlouhy.
She is preceded in death by her parents Steve and Della; her husband, of over 56 years, Emil who died December 29, 2003; two sons Alan and John; grandson Larry; brothers Lester and George Dlouhy; sisters Martha Roy, Bernice Shulte, Della Bonnie Johnson; sister in law Jeanne Dlouhy.
