Gina M. Prevenas, 38, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, September 19, 2016 at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2016 at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre located at 2121 Bowling Street SW, Cedar Rapids. A Celebration of Life will continue in The Avacentre from 6 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.

Gina Marie was born July 13, 1978 in Estherville, the daughter of Richard Edward and Kathleen Ann (Reiter) Duhn. She graduated from Oelwein High School and then attended Kirkwood Community College. She married Christopher Anthony Prevenas on August 25, 2007 in Dubuque. Gina held various positions at GreatAmerica Financial Services for over 15 years, ending with her role as a Programmer Analyst. She enjoyed travel, biking, yoga, reading, volleyball, motorsports and spending time with friends, family, and her dog Jackson.

Gina is survived by her husband Chris; father Richard Duhn; step father Doug Burkey; step brother Matt (Kayla) Burkey; step sisters Kristin (Bryan) Pates and Ashley Burkey; and many extended relatives.

Gina is preceded in death by her mother Kathleen Ann Burkey, paternal grandfather Clayton Edward Duhn, maternal grandfather Robert James Reiter, and maternal grandmother Helen Eileen Nieman Reiter.
