Geraldine Emma Broulik, 84 of Mt. Vernon, died Monday, January 6, 2014 at her home. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Friday January 10, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mt. Vernon. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Lisbon. Visitation will be Thursday starting at 4 p.m. with a wake service starting at 7 p.m., at St, John's Catholic Church and one hour prior to service on Friday. Geraldine was born in Rural Solon, the daughter of Joseph and Sophia (Konecny) Hajek. She married Leonard Broulik on January 3, 1953 in Ely. She and Leonard lived and raised their family on the farm south of Mt. Vernon. She was a member of the Jolly Workers Ladies Club, card club at Gwens, St. John's the Baptist Catholic Church. She loved to garden and enjoyed being a 4-H Garden Club Leader. Geraldine was a master cook and always welcomed any visitor to the farm to join her for a meal. She loved all the animals on the farm and her special pets. Geraldine enjoyed attending all the family and grandchildren's activities and her bus trips with friends. Geraldine is survived by her sons Robert (Anna) Broulik of Lisbon and Dan Broulik of Mt. Vernon; daughters Sharon (Keith) Kadlec of Hiawatha, Nancy (Kerry) Vincent of Ely, Teresa (Steve) Weets of Mechanicsville; a daughter in law Julie Broulik of Lisbon; grandchildren Michelle Bevins, Sara (Cary) Sublette, Stephanie McCord, Abby (Tim) Keegan, Luke (Crystal) Broulik, Jacob Broulik and fiance Ronda Stucker, Jenna (Nick) Dains, Alan "A.J." Weets, Amber (Spencer) Jordan, Joey Broulik, Sally Weets, Stacey Weets, and John Broulik; great-grandchildren Spencer Bevins, Taylor Sublette, Shauna Sublette, Caleb Keegan, Logan Couch, Wesley Broulik, Maxwell Sublette, Beau Keegan, Owen Broulik, Cael Dains; step-grandchildren Catie, Matt and Jack Johnson; siblings; Wilma Skripsky, Marcella Fisher, Dick (Margaret) Hajek and a sister-in-law Myrtle Hajek. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Leonard Broulik on November 14, 2008, a son John on March 8, 2008, a brother Bill Hajek and great granddaughter Samantha Broulik. A memorial fund has been established in her name.
