George Donald Mally Jr., 60, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014. A celebration of life gathering for George will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014 at The Avacentre at Brosh Chapel, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. A private family inurnment will be at a later date. George was born July 3, 1953 in Cedar Rapids, the son of George Donald and Johanna (Clark) Mally Sr. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Kennedy High. Following high school he served in the United States Army, serving in both the Vietnam and Desert Storm. George was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed games, watching football, Facebook, cooking for others and was proud to make Indian fry bread, as well as spending time with his family. George is survived by his sons Marc Mally of Wisconsin and Donald (Laura) Mally of Central City, and his daughter Melinda (Josh) Mally-Silvers of Hiawatha; step-mother Laurel Bilsland of Cedar Rapids; siblings Sylvia Kondora, Teresa Mally, Jodie Dutton, John Mally, Diane Wicher, DeAnna Bilsland all of Cedar Rapids and Jackie Mally-Rupe of Bloomfield; seven grandchildren; and a special friend Bonnie. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Norman and Albert Mally. Memorials may be directed to the family.
