Geneva "Peg" Martinek, 90, of Solon, died peacefully on Monday, July 25, 2016 at Solon Care Center. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2016 at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Solon. Friends may visit with the family from 3 p.m. until the time of service. A private family inurnment will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Solon at a later date.

Peg was born in Fergus Falls, Minnesota on April 1, 1926, the daughter of Gilbert O. and Ragna (Tolefson) Sanden.

Peg is survived by her son Jim (Karen) Martinek of Solon and two grandchildren Kathryn Martinek of Cedar Rapids and Thomas Martinek of Solon.

Peg is preceded in death by her husband Harold Martinek (August 1, 2001).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to the Solon Public Library, the Solon Firefighters Association, or to Iowa City Hospice.
