Gary Lee Anson, 71, of Solon, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2023, in Coralville.  As per Gary's wishes no services will be held.  The family asks that you cherish the special times and moments with Gary.  Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Solon is caring for the family.

Gary was born December 8, 1952, in Marshalltown, the son of Gerald and Marilyn Anson.     He graduated from Marshalltown High School, class of 1972, and later with a degree from the University of Iowa.  He served in the United States Navy on the USS Kittyhawk, receiving a Navy Commendation Medal for heroic achievement.  Gary was united in marriage to Cherrelyn Garlock in Solon.  He worked at UPS for over 32 years as a driver, retiring in 2012.  He enjoyed duck and deer hunting, fishing, mowing his acreage, watching Hawkeye football and basketball, but most of all spending time with his friends and family.

Gary is survived by his wife Cherrelyn; children Cory (Luann) Anson, Aaron (Kristen) Anson, Melissa (Ryan) Lux; seven grandchildren Ava, Charlotte, Eli, Adam, Shane, Jordan and James; his siblings Terry (Beth) Anson, Kevin (Dawn) Anson; as well as his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son Alex Anson, and his parents.
