Frank Joseph Dvorak, 89, of Cedar Rapids went home to be with the lord Sunday, June 11, 2006 at Manor Care following a long illness. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids. Burial will follow in Czech National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids and for an hour prior to services Wednesday at the chapel.
Frank was born April 8, 1917 in Mt. Vernon the son of Frank and Emma (Tums) Dvorak. Frank farmed in Mt. Vernon for many years, among other careers, and his most recent was drywall prior to his retirement. Frank loved his large garden, cooking, making kolaches, mushroom hunting, picking hickory nuts, and playing his accordion. He had a great sense of humor and loved playing jokes on people. His greatest joy was being surrounded by his family.
Frank is survived by two sons Robert (Beula) Dvorak of Mt. Vernon and Kenny (Ruby) Dvorak of Cedar Rapids; six daughters Evelyn Vogel of Cedar Rapids, Mary (Jim) Henderson of Marion, Helen (Mike) Ramsey of Williamsburg, Joan (Dale) Andrews of Rowley, Janie (Jim) Clinton of Tama, and Debbie Meyer of Cedar Rapids; twenty-four grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. Preceding him in death were his parents, and his two sisters Anna Dosedlo and Lenora Hartl.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the Manor Care Staff and Amenity Hospice. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Frank's memory.
