Flenoid Cole, 76 of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at St. Lukes Hospital. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2006 at Gospel Tabernacle Chruch with Rev. Rufus Johnson of Fellowship Baptist Church presiding. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids and for an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
Flenoid was born June 20, 1929 in Lake Providence, Louisiana the son of Wash and Sallie Lee Cole Sr.. He married Ruth Brown June 9, 1973 in Rock Island, Illinois. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for many years as a welder for FMC Linkbelt Speeder.
Flenoid is survived by his wife Ruthie; sons Michael (Kathy) Cole of Cedar Rapids, Bernard Taylor of Seattle, Washington; daughters Janet (Harrison) Robinson of Chicago, Donna Adams of Cedar Rapids, and Joyce Taylor of Dubuque; grandchildren Michael "Boonie", Ebony, Trina, Michael Lance, Travis Michael, Tamera, Tonya, and Teran; eleven greatgrandchildren; a brother John (Gayle) Cole of Tacoma, Washington; sisters Ellen Johnson of Lake Providence, Louisiana, and Annie Louise (Henry) Howard of Flourescent, Missouri, as well as a host of nieces, nephew, relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, four brothers and four sisters.
Cole was a passionate lover of his family. His church work, family barbeques, gardening and the "Blues" were his favorite past times.
