Fay Elder, 93, of North Liberty, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 25, 2021 at Lantern Park Specialty Care in North Liberty.  Celebration of Life Services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, December 31, 2021 at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW.  Friends may visit with the family on Friday after 10 a.m. prior to the service. Inurnment will follow at Anderson Cemetery near Swisher.

Fay was born July 28, 1928 in Missouri, the daughter of Victor and Ethel (Gillispie) Schoonover. Fay worked for many years as a seamstress and in the restaurant business.  She enjoyed travelling with family and friends.

Fay is survived by her son Terry (Kathi) Elder; daughter Linda Ammons; grandchildren  Tamy (John Vesely) Cortez, Chad (Theresa) Elder and Shawn Elder; six great grandchildren; brother Boyd Schoonover; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother Herman and sisters Fern and Ruth.
