Evelyn M. Dlask, 93 of Cedar Rapids, died on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Crestview Acres in Marion.  Celebration of life gathering and a time for food and fellowship will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 5, 2016 at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW.  Burial will follow in Czech National Cemetery.

Evelyn was born September 18, 1923 on the family farm, near Ely, the daughter of Joseph and Tillie (Barta) Horak.  She graduated from Wilson High School.  Evelyn was united in marriage to George Dlask on October 19, 1944 in Cedar Rapids.  She worked at the Old Mill Ice Cream Shop, Gazette, and at Linkbelt Speeder – FMC, for over 25 years.  While there she worked in the mail room, accounting office, and was later appointed as Salary Administrator.  Evelyn enjoyed working in the kitchen, baking, making kolaches, canning, gardening and spending time with her family, especially with her granddaughter Melanie.

Evelyn is survived by her sons Gary (Julie) Dlask of Cedar Falls and Charles Dlask of Cedar Rapids; her granddaughter Melanie (Greg) Smith of Urbandale; a great-grandson Benjamin Smith; and a brother Milton (Dorie Jo) Horak of Waterloo.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George, who died on April 7, 2013, and brothers Vernon (Shirley) and Norbert (Lois) Horak.

Memorials may be directed to the Jefferson High School Band or to the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library.
