Erma Eleanor Tomas, 84 of Fairfax died Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at her home.  Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2006 at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, with Rev. Tom Carver presiding.  Burial will follow in Memory Gardens in Iowa City.  Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and for an hour prior to services Saturday at Brosh Chapel.
Erma was born February 22, 1922 in West Liberty the daughter of Ray and Elsie Hanna Smith.  She married Emil Tomas on July 17, 1940 in Nashua.  Erma worked as a cook for over 30 years for Mercy Hospital retiring in 1982.  She was also a Stanley Dealer for over 28 years.
Erma is survived by her sons Emil (Diane) Tomas Jr. of Swisher, Edward (Barbara) Tomas of Tingley, Melvin Tomas of Norway, and Marvin Tomas of Mt. Holly, New Jersey;  her daughters Nancy (Ralph) Emanuel of Fairfax and Beverley (Richard) Boddicker of Norway; seventeen grandchildren and thirty seven greatgrandchildren, and a special friend Edward Swenka of Cedar Rapids.  Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Emil Tomas, her sisters Dorothy Smith, Leatha Shaffer, Margaret Tomas, Charlotte Raines, Helen Kinney, and her brothers Harley and Kenneth Smith
