Emory D. Toresdahl, 85 of 1220 5 ^th Avenue SE,  Cedar Rapids, died Monday, November 21, 2005, at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City.  His body has been donated to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program.  A memorial service will be held later at First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids.  Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.

Emory was born March 9, 1920 in Clear Lake, the son of Edwin and Ora Berhow Toresdahl.  He graduated from Ventura High School and then attended Waldorf College and Hamilton School of Commerce.  He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.

Emory was involved in many groups and organizations including:  Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, the Mens Garden Club of America, sons of Norway, Keenagers Group, and the American Legion.  He volunteered at Lutheran Social Services and the Botanical Center in Des Moines.

Emory is survived by a sister in law Alice Toresdahl and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers Raymond and Gordon.

Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association and or to First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids.
