Elsie Glenna Cummings, 89, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the Colonial Manor of Amana. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m., Monday, July 13, 2026, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW. Graveside service will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2026, at Czech National Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.

Elsie was born on December 2, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of George and Helen (Feres) Fitzgarrald. She graduated from McKinley High School, class of 1954. Elsie married Edgar Paul Cummings in Cedar Rapids on Christmas Eve, in 1954. She worked for many years at Paulsen Electric, City of Cedar Rapids, Wilson Junior High School in secretarial positions. Elsie enjoyed reading, camping, traveling, and lunching with friends.

Elsie is survived by her daughters Carman (Tom) Rosburg of Colo, Iowa and Lorie (Don) Christy of Marengo, Iowa; her daughter-in-law Halane Cummings; her grandchildren Brad (Cindy) Christy, Megan (Cody) Knapp, Valerie (Niels) Meewis, Vanessa (Dominique) Davis, Tyler (Laura) Rosburg, Molly Cummings (Keaton Conrad) and Emmet Cummings; her great-grandchildren Byron (Zoyee), Christy, Mariah, Violet, Averie, Koen, Dahmynique, Maxwell, Everett and Sawyer; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband E. “Paul” Cummings; son Phillip Cummings; brothers George and Benjamin Fitzgarrald; sisters Helen Stevens, Wilma Lewis, Mildred Bailey and Gloria McCluskey.
